So it looks like winter’s decided to crawl back under its rock and let the sun have a go. Now it’s not quite shorts weather yet, but it certainly feels warmer and that’s just good for society. So the message remains – there’s only one sensible thing to do — head to The King & Queen, grab a pint, order some food and warm your cockles by the real fire (we’ll still have it on for those chilly evenings).
We’re a proper English village pub: think good honest food with a gastro twist, good company, and no nonsense service with a smile — just the way it should be. The pub, us and our team has been through a lot over the last few years – pandemic, wars, stupidly expensive utility bills, more wars, national minimum wage hikes, NIC hikes, unrealistic business rates rises, and a labour government which seem hell-bent on destroying the pub industry. But, i’ll say it again – we love what we do and it’s all to keep this asset, your local, alive and kicking.
But here’s the brutal reality: if you don’t use your local, you’ll lose it. It’s that simple.
“So head to the KQ tonight, or tomorrow, or both. Grab a pint, tuck into the new menu, or don’t. Try a proper Sunday roast at the weekend or have a steak rare. Have a chat with someone unexpected, have a whisky chaser, have two! Thank the staff, tip well, and take your time — life’s too short not to. Your local pub is alive because of you. Keep it that way.”
